“Talks began ten years ago. The Prime Minister should have regularly reported on the negotiating process instead of keeping voters in the dark for years,” criticizes François Laporte, President of Teamsters Canada. “The Conservatives did not have the mandate to negotiate this agreement seeing as it had not been a focus of the 2011 election campaign.”

As international trade negotiators continue attempting to conclude the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), farm, labor and consumer groups from throughout the Pacific Rim are demanding that they not interfere with nations’ sovereign right and responsibility to protect family farmers, processing workers and domestic food supplies – including North America’s dairy sector.

(WASHINGTON) – July 30, 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the disappearance of one of the greatest labor leaders in American history – James R. Hoffa.

According to the report’s co-author, economist Hugh Mackenzie, union representation affects a worker’s ability to move up the middle class ladder. Holding a union card also buffered workers from the devastating effects of hard economic times and offered greater access to upward mobility. “The findings suggest that there is a huge opportunity cost for workers who lose a unionized position, especially...

The Teamsters History Project is looking for history, photos, or stories from the Local Union, as well as preparing a history book on ‘Teamster Participation During Major Conflicts’ to honour the sacrifice of thousands of Teamsters who served in the American and Canadian Armed Forces throughout history.

As part of this book, a list of all casualties incurred by Teamster members will be included. Much of this information has been drawn from The International Teamster Magazine. Unfortunately, not all battle fatalities were published in the Magazine, as not all Local Unions reported casualties to...
